My Story

Historically a disease of the elderly, the incidence of colon cancer amongst people 50 years old and under began to increase significantly beginning around 1994.  Today, 10% of new colon cancer cases are found in patients under the age of 50 years old.  This is a global problem and it is likely that the rate of early onset colon cancer will continue to grow.  Some estimates suggest a possible doubling by 2030.

I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the Sigmoid Bowel, Stage 2A, in November 2022 at the age of 48 years old.  "Intestinal Fortitude" is my story.
